Why Is The Church Broken? Print E-mail
Pastoral Staff Blogs - Rob Whitlow's Blog
Written by Rob Whitlow
The answer? The church is broken because the church is not broken enough.

We have somehow come to the definition that to be broken, means that you are a wimp. That you know how to be sad. Being broken has nothing to do with your state of emotions.

It has everything to do with obedience. Yes, this may make you sad, but sadness does not equal brokenness.

Psalm 51:16-17 (New King James Version)

16 For You do not desire sacrifice, or else I would give it;
 You do not delight in burnt offering.
 17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit,
 a broken and a contrite heart— These, O God, You will not despise.

To be broken means that you have given up taking control, and you have given over control to the Holy Spirit in every area of your life.
